In the twenty years of their existence the Stephan Kurmann Strings have repeatedly caused a sensation and gained wide recognition for its highly original and mature style. Now they present their new exciting project and their fifth CD. This time the impressive orchestra with its characteristic, spirited sound devotes a project to Hermeto Pascoal. Jovino Santos Neto, Pascoal's piano player and right hand for 15 years as well as an experienced composer/arranger in his own right, has written a suitable program of compositions of the Brazilian genius and multi-instrumentalist. It is played homogeneously by five outstanding jazz personalities and a masterful string quartet - an equal partner of the jazz soloists and the rhythm section. The contrast between composed material and improvisation produces a fascinating spectrum of constantly changing sounds and colours - the strings' own trademark.
